Well, as far as we knew nobody has ever used that part of gdl API so we
considered it unnecessary and as such I allowed James to remove it because
it makes it a lot easier to fix a couple of issues in gdl layout
saving/removing. Related bug:

But sorry for not doing a gdl 3.2.0 release yet, I will do that soon
