GTK+ 3.0.7 issues

Hey, just a quick headsup:

the GTK+ 3.0.7 release that I did yesterday contains some size request
optimizations that turn out to have problematic side effects in a few
places:

If we can't track those down by tomorrow, I'lm going to do a 3.0.8
with the problematic changes reverted.
