FYI, eog not being able to set a remote image as wallpaper is a
limitation that has been there for way a long time. The regression
introduced with the gio migration is that this propagated to local
images. *This is the bug to be fixed here*.

eog saving locally a remote image to allow proper wallpaper setting can
be considered a different *enhancement*, that I wouldn't have dared to
introduce less than two weeks before the major release (that is, when
this limitation came to our attention), even if I had had the time to
code it promptly.

If you are so concerned about our half-assed work, feel free to, at
least, file a bug about this missing feature. You can be sure that I
appreciate eog enough to implement this, but this was not the right time
to do it, bad luck, so it goes. That's why we have a schedule.

ps: stripping out gnome-doc and gnome-i18n from the flaming.
