Re: [orca-list] Icewheezel or Firefox

I think it depends on which version of orca you are using. I've found that firefox causes considerable instability in the version of orca that is in debian wheezy, 3.4.2. Up until this week, I had been using debian squeeze and firefox but I had to keep my version of firefox at 23. The current version of firefox is 28. Orca 3.4.2 seems to work pretty well with iceweasel.

The problem with firefox and orca in debian wheezy seems to have something to do with speech-dispatcher. If I start firefox, my PC seems dead. There is no speech and even the keyboard seems to have stopped working. But if I open a character window and kill speech-dispatcher, orca starts up again. It will die again after a few seconds and restarting speech-dispatcher brings it back again. But if I kill off the firefox process and speech-dispatcher both, then orca seems fine. In fact, I'm typing this message in thunderbird after having just gone through the whole process.

Hello all,

The documentation is contradicting on whether to use Icewheezel or
Firefox. Which is actually recommended?

Thanks,
