This has been in the plan for a while, and most of the infrastructure is
there for it already.  And if wpa_supplicant will work for you for wired
802.1x, then NM will be able to support that fairly easily.

What we don't have yet are the configuration bits for static wired
settings like that, but these bits are also in process.
