By 'current capability' I assume you mean the ability to have a list
of encodings to try?

Due mainly to the awfulness of that piece of UI, it's actually
something that I've long wanted to kill, but haven't been able to (or
had time to) find a suitable replacement for. It could possibly be
replaced by e.g., encoding autodetect plus the manual selection
methods above. However, I suspect that it's (sadly) probably here to
stay.
