Sure, that's a very good thing, hard not to like it, but of course
the persistence of the box is another issue. Why not just make that
configurable?
The Commander plugin is found in the gedit-plugins package -
if you install that, you'll see it in
Editor->Preferences->Plugins.
Ok, I see that in the Synaptic package list.
One more thing, I have no 'help' here. 'F1' gives: "There was
an error displaying the help. The specified location is not
supported." Can I fix that manually?
Not sure why that's not working on your system, but you could
