If you are new to gnome development, you should take a look at the gnome love project

Should you not be familiar with the gnome development process and/or not have a gnome git account you could start a fork at github and do some development there. I'd be happy to look into your progress and put your changes into the gnome repositories (be sure to message me or better yet go through bugzilla as pull requests aren't processed through github).

You could also send in patches through bugzilla directly which would be fine as well (this is the usual way for bugfixes but a bit of a hassle for larger rewrites).

Work on the vala port would be appreciated, you can find the code in the
vala-port branch of the git repository. This is a complete rewrite in
vala (replacing python). It is playable, but needs some more work.

I would also like to work on this, but unfortunately I cannot at the
moment due to a lack of time.
