I know it's not your question, but do you know that there are some debs of
evolution compiled for potato :

Add in your /etc/apt/sources.list :

deb ftp://mahe.inrialpes.fr/linux/helix/evolution/distributions/Debian
./

then :

apt-get update
apt-get install evolution
