Epiphany doesn't put plugins anywhere. It depends on the plugins
installed for Mozilla (either Firefox or XULRunner).

Epiphany isn't going to cut ties with Mozilla for the forseeable future.

Well, that's weird. Is your distro Debian or Debian-based? Then it might
be that there's an alias because they're not distributing a browser
under the Mozilla brand any more because of licensing issues. Their
version of Firefox is called Iceweasel, for example.
