I admit I haven't looked at the code, but isn't gnome_url_show the one
to use generally? It also adds files to the gtk.RecentManager if
appropriate. After all t-s-t is a Gnome front end to tracker? Or is it
only gtk?

I don't really know what gtk.RecentManager but I think (need more
verification) that t-s-t doesn't need any part of GNOME, just GTK.
