GConf is going to be replaced by GSetting (or a similar sounding
name), but I wouldn't rely on GConf to store Sawfish configurations.

IIRC the GTK+ librep binding was done using Guile as an example. I've
looked at the latest Guile version, released 8 weeks ago (
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.lisp.guile.gtk/788 ), but reading the
changelogs I'm not sure to which version of the GTK+ library the
guile-gtk wrapper is based (at least GTK+ 2.10, and
http://www.gtk.org/language-bindings.html seems to confirm it).

There is a guile-cairo too that can be used as an example... ^__^
