Possibly.  I do not recall details and why I use that.  This was
a long time ago.  Quite likely --tag=CC was not making libtool
happy and --tag=CXX did work.  I am first to admit that this is a
hack.  I am somewhat curious why it was needed in the first place
but not that curious.
