I was able to find a web location for a mock-up of the idea I described
yesterday. Here it is: http://www.internet.is/ninag/

To briefly recap my thoughts, the list in the "Jukebox" pane is a
running history, past and future, of songs that have been played
(grayed out), the currently playing song, and songs that are about to
be played. These future songs are there either because they were added
there by the shuffle function or because someone dragged the song and
dropped it on the list. Songs on this future list could be rearranged
by drag-drop or removed by dragging them out.

I also suggested that double clicking a song would immediately bump
the currently playing song.

Admittedly, as Colin suggests, it is rather busy, but it did not
overwhelm my low-resolution laptop.
