Hi Bastien,
You are very much the exact user we are trying to get GStreamer good
enough to want to use, ie. if you don't prefer using GStreamer then
Totems users will not either. 

With 0.8 we where swimming closer and closer to the surface, but we
realized we would never break the surface with it, so we switched
development fully to 0.10. So maybe at this exact point in time we are a
little deeper than we where with the last 0.8 release, but we think we
can break the surface with 0.10, with 0.8 we are destined to drown :)
