Re: [orca-list] Orca 42.3 (aka The Apology Release) released

Hello,

I’ve been having all kinds of problems with this same thing on two different distros. What I ended up doing was removing the installed version of orca, and deleting the contents of ⋅local.share.orca and then running ⋅/augogen.sh --prefix/usr make sudo make install which seemed to bump  my version to 43.beta

Not sure if this will help you or not. I’ve never had this kind of trouble running from source, but there definitely seems to be an issue. Removing the installed version of orca isn’t sufficient, as once I install from source, there is some error about some file or something not being found, I’m guessing a sym link not being created correctly or something… So for me, removing Orca, along with its configuration is what solved it for me.

I made an interesting observation.

I don't know if I am missing something simple here.

I compiled orca 42.3 with the traditional ./configure make sudo make install way.

After I restarted orca, I did orca -v on the terminal and still see version 42.0 instead of expected 42.3.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

By the way I have the new version in /usr/local/bin.

Thank you for this. Chatty behavior is, indeed, improved.

Hey all.

I just rolled Orca v42.3, the only change in which is to make the cell
ancestor presentation optional as discussed here. Those of you who
indicated you couldn't test master should hopefully see 42.3 in your
distros soon.

Again, sorry about the unwanted chattiness and please let me know if
this solution solves your needs!
