Re: [orca-list] Google Docs Bugs

Hi Nimer.

Regarding the first issue, when you press Home Orca gets a live region announcement for "this". I am seeing this whether braille mode is enabled or not. I don't see any way for Orca to know that it shouldn't present the live region announcement. I guess maybe that should be stopped by Google Docs itself when braille mode is enabled. I'll follow up with Google.

On the second issue, I'll see why that's not getting presented by Orca but is by Firefox.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am running into the following issues with Google Docs.

  * When pressing the home or end keys, extraneous information is
spoken. This happens in both Firefox and Chrome, with and without
Braille mode on. To reproduce, do the following:?
      o Enable Orca.
o In Google Chrome or Firefox, navigate to docs.google.com
<http://docs.google.com> and open an existing doc or create a
        new one.
o Make sure focus mode is on and screen reader mode in Docs is on.
This happens with and without Braille mode.
o Type "This is line 1"
o Press the home key to jump to the beginning of the line, and
        observe what is spoken.
o Press end to jump to the end of the line and observe what is spoken.
+ Expected: When pressing home, the first letter is spoken.
When pressing end, blank is spoken to indicate the end of
            the line.
+ Actual: When pressing home, the entire word, along with the
first letter is spoken. When pressing end, I can't really
            tell what is spoken.
  * In Chrome, searching for Braille mode on in menu search in Docs
doesn't speak state of checkbox. This works as intended in Firefox.
o Enable Orca and open Chrome Dev.
o Navigate to docs.google.com <http://docs.google.com> and open an
existing doc or create a new one. Make sure screen reader mode
        is enabled.
o Press alt+/ to open the menu search.
o Type braille and listen to what is verbalized. Press enter to
        change the state.
o Go back into the menu search and type braille again, and listen
        to what is spoken.
+ When Braille mode is checked, the checked state is not
verbalized. When it is unchecked nothing is verbalized. The
net effect is that users don't know whether Braille mode is
on or off until they toggle it. In Firefox this is not an issue.
