Could you please run the alsa-info script, found here: http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh on the 
machine in questino? If you can, could you also possibly get a log from PulseAudio, as per 
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log. Also the output of "pacmd list-sinks".
