I have an HP Pavilion DV6 laptop. I
installed vmware player 4 (workstation 8). I use Windows 7
Home 64bit, jaws 13. After downloading Ubuntu 11.10 X86, I
created a VM with the following hardware:

drive from ISO file (points to Ubuntu 11.10 image downloaded)

I told the vmware player I wanted to
install at a later time. Now, when I start Ubuntu VM that was
just created, I have no sound at all. Pressing F11 turns sound
on. I hear no drums or audio to signify that Ubuntu is ready
for a response of some kind. I press CONTROL+S. Orca and the
Ubuntu installer start. I run through the installer and am
told the computer needs to restart. I restart into the dvd
image loaded for the dvd drive. I turn off the VM, remove the
ISO image and turn the dvd back to hardware dvd. I restart the
VM and cannot sign in, I get no sound (even unmuting it
fails). I am stuck. Any ideas? I need this for school and am
on a timeline.
