Re: [orca-list] GNOME3 System Menu Work-around

Well with gnome3, we're probably having to learn this stuff all over
again but from what I recall before, look in the system menu for
something to do with screen saver properties. I forget if it is by
itself or if inside another dialog. But you can go in and turn off
the screen saver entirely or change the time out period to something
different. I think with gnome 3, we might need to explore the system
settings dialog. At this point, it appears to be a two dimensional
icon view and hitting enter on any of these will open a respective
dialog for further adjustments.

HTH.

Steve,
You're a genius for figuring this out!
Next question: how do I keep my screening from locking and having to
enter my password to unlock it? I think I found a lock screen switch
somewhere but don't know whether this will do the trick.

I found what seems to work 100% of the time on my machine to get to
what used to be the system menu where you can find the shutdown and
logout dialogs. What I do is basically the following:
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Tab until you hear "Top Panel."

2. Then tab around to the first occurence of "Menu Bar."

3. Now press either left or right arrow key once; nothing will be
spoken.

4. Pressing up or down arrow will now speak the items in the system
menu.

This tactic works every time for me on my Arch Linux system using
Gnome 3.
