Hmm, I tested pidgin and irc.
You need to add an account as usual, you'll get things like nickname, and server address, after it, you can use the standard room list in pidgin to join channels, but pidgin as an irc client is a crap, I think. I didn't find any good and accessible non-terminal alternative yet. Actually, does someone know anything like that?
