My first thought given this, I would almost think it better to skip
the gconf step entirely but he did mention that converting gconf to
gsettings was easier than going from flat files.  My only concern
would be for us to stop at gconf and not keep moving on.  If the full
process can happen in time for gnome 3.0, then it's all good to me.
