Re: [orca-list] Encountering issue - TIMEOUT: something has hung. Aborting.

I'm not sure. The stack trace looks strange -- it looks like *maybe* the call to initialize the speech driver is hanging:

File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/orca/gnomespeechfactory.py", line 193, in __activateDriver
    isInitialized = driver.driverInit()

Try running the "test-speech" application and see if you can get the desired speech engine talking that way.

Hi,

   I am encountering the following issue when running ORCA :

               TIMEOUT: something has hung.  Aborting.

   ORCA does not start after giving this message. Earlier orca was working
fine. But, recently after adding a few new festival voices, the above
mentioned problem started to surface. Searched the web, but could not find
suitable solution. Please suggest how to rectify/overcome the above mentioned
issue.

   Please find attached a debug output file (which got generated first) for
reference. Orca version - Orca
2.24.1, gnome version - 2.24.1 , Ubuntu version - 8.1 (Intrepid) , using an
Acer Aspire One laptop.

Regards,
Vinodh.
