[orca-list] orca does not count repeated chars in terminal

Hi all,
I'd like to confirm if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong.

To reproduce try the following steps:
1) create a file called tmp.txt with the following content:
"**********"
Please, omit the quotations.

2) Open a terminal session using gnome-terminal.

3) Type the following command:
cat tmp.txt

Result:
orca reads * * * * * * * * * *
Expected result:
orca should read 10 characters *

Using flat review keys announce the text correctly
