Ok, I now have brltty at startup in orca on my ubuntu installation with 
vmware fusion. That works fine. However, I still have a problem with 
strange characters showing up, not being able o read more than a line or 
so with the advance bars in terminal, and those noises from the 
braillelite that I've usually associated with the running of more than one 
instance of brltty--but only one instance is running. I'm using a 
usb-serial connection. Any ideas wht may be wrong?
