I'll keep this question for next time it happens.  I recalled a couple
times when this happened that I could simply restart Orca by doing the
Alt-F2 and running Orca and it would come back up.  This approach did
not work this morning when it happened.  I do have speakup running in
other consoles so should have no trouble running the 'ps' inquery next
time.
