Re: [orca-list] GNOME-speech driver

The fact that the voice is showing up in test-speech is good. It means that Orca can use the voice.

For the problem with not being able to speak regular text, I'm not sure what is happening. It may be that the telugu_NSK_diphone voice can only speak numbers due to a pronunciation lexicon limitation or something. I did a Google search for telugu_NSK_diphone and came across this link:

http://festival-te.sourceforge.net/wiki/Speech_Assistance

On that page is an example:

festival> (voice_telugu_NSK_diphone )
telugu_NSK_diphone
festival> (SayText "123")

Try using (SayText "something besides numbers here") and see if it speaks the text (you may want to use a telugu string). If it doesn't speak, there's a limitation in the voice and you'd need to work with the authors of the voice to complete it.

Have you tried eSpeak?
