Your on ubuntu? Can you attach /etc/sudoers and
/root/.orbitrc

Also, why not just do sudo apt-get install ntpdate
ntpdate <ntp_server>
replacing "ntp_server" with a real ntp server?
This way your time will be always correct (to the second I believe)
