I suppose I should know this, but I don't. Nor can I find the answer
documented.

I want to cut and paste. I see the Edit menu choices, I see the keyboard
shortcuts for ctrl-x, ctrl-c, and ctrl-v ... but that's not enough info.
How do I indicate what to cut/copy? How do I indicate "Start here and
copy/cut all the way to over there?"

How is this indicated in the gui?
