[PATCH] core: implement internet connectivity check feature

- Subject: [PATCH] core: implement internet connectivity check feature
- Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2011 22:27:45 +0200
Hi,
the attached patch implements the possiblity to check the internet
connection.
2 new configuration options for NetworkManager.conf are available:
[connectivity]
uri=http://example.com
interval=300
both options are also as command-line parameters available.
* the uri in section [connectivity] is used to do a http-request (libsoup).
if the response status code is 200, the check was successful.
* the interval is used to do a periodically connectivity check. the
value is in seconds.
Both features can be disabled.
* If uri is empty, no connectivity check will be done and NM
assume that a connection is available.
* if uri is available and interval is zero, the connectivity check will
be done only when a device state changes from/to NM_DEVICE_STATE_ACTIVATED.
The check is done async and will be triggered when
* device state changes from/to NM_DEVICE_STATE_ACTIVATED
* interval time is ready
When the check is done, NMConnectivity update the private member
'connected' and emit a singnal when 'connected' changed. NMManager
listen to the signal and update NMState if needed.
TODO:
* Currently only NM_STATE_CONNECTED_SITE and NM_STATE_CONNECTED_GLOBAL will be handled.
NM_STATE_CONNECTED_LOCAL won't be used.
* NMConnectivity should be a singleton.
* allow to define the expected response status-code?
* allow more than 1 uri?
* allow different protocols (eg icmp)?
Comments?
Cheers,
Tom
* use libsoup to check internet connectivity with
a http request to a configurable uri and check
the response code for 200
* do periodically check the connectivity. Check interval
is configurable
* check connectivity when device state change
from/to NM_DEVICE_STATE_ACTIVATED
