You'll need 2 things from wpa_supplicant:

1) compile the supplicant with the new D-Bus interface enabled in
your .config:
CONFIG_CTRL_IFACE_DBUS_NEW=y

2) this patch from supplicant git:
http://w1.fi/gitweb/gitweb.cgi?p=hostap-07.git;a=commit;h=b80b5639935d37b95d00f86b57f2844a9c775f57

It looks like you may not have done #1?
