Some part of nautilus in another application

There is a way to use nautilus from another application to retrieve
information about some specific file?

To be more pragmatic, I'd like to be able to use the icon nautilus
display for a file and the context menu from my applications. I think
it should be possible, because in this way every application in gnome
that manages files can provide the same interface.
