Note that you'll need write access if we add the automatic renewal
feature.
I don't think it's a big issue that it lives in your homedir, as long as
this is documented somewhere.

I'd change the "you need to renew in a month" to something more
positive. Let's try this:
Your GNOME Foundation membership lasts two years and since your last
renewal/acceptance was from <acceptance>, it is expiring in one month.
Please renew your membership if you've enjoyed being a member of the

Ok, "enjoy" is too strong, but you get the idea :-)
