Stats on gender, location, etc

Do we gather any information on the the membership, for statistical
purposes. For instance, gender, nationality. If not, I think this could be
very useful to track our progress on problems such as

- Lack of female involvement
- Lack of asian involvement

It would probably need to be optional, but it could still be very useful.
