Return types of signal handlers

Hi
Some signal handlers are required to return a boolean,
but in the reference only a prototype for such a function is
given, but no explanation what the value returned has as
effect.

Is there some general rule what a return value of "true" (or "false")
has for a bool-valued signale handler?
