check and uncheck Gtk::CheckButton without toggle signal emitted?

Hi,

is there a way to set and reset the Gtk::CheckButton check mark *without* the 
toggled signal being emitted?

Gtk::CheckButtonGtk::set_active(..) always sends that signal, which is not 
ideal in all situations.
