just committed:
        get_data_from_path -> get_row_data_from_path

discussion isn't nec. closed, but that seems to be pretty explicit. it's
a bit long, but things like get_row_from_path, or get_row, aren't
explicit enough as there are several things that could be meant by row
and several different things to get a row by.
