i had commented that out long, long ago so i could build on one of my 
workstations that doesn't have gtk-spell.  it would appear that it made 
it into the released package when i did 'make dist' some time later on 
that machine.  i feel really stupid.

ross, since you have gtk-spell, if you'll make a new package i'll put 
it on sourceforge.
