  I am not an expert either; Robert's advice seems to make sense,
and here is my own :    

  I would say that 10 milliseconds is an overkill. If I get it    
correctly, the screen is updated every 40 millisecond (or 20 w/
interlaced video). So updates quicker than that would not be
seen by the user.
