Embedded Java Application

Has anyone ever had success with running an embeddeded java application in a gtk
window similar to the look of a java applet in a browser window? I've done a lot
of google searching that hasn't uncovered much other than a few threads on the
topic that died. Any links or suggestions would be most appreciated.
