I have just added gtk-engines-2.8.0 to the default build data subroutine of
my tool (see signature) and it compiles without a problem.

If you wish, I can send log files and the very latest version of my tool
- it compiles everything locally, not overwriting anything in system directories,
not requiring root permission, so you are safe.
