You dont want to waste your time that way. Follow the advices and get GTK+ 2.6, there's no reason to learn today the old API.
Here a short Question again: how can i destroy a window which i have opened from another window.
This kind of questions will be dificulty answered if you keep on hacking with GTK+ 1.2.
