well, that was an example
the question is how (if?) to extend a widget.
this should be easy in gtkmm i think
and as for filetype example,
i ment selecting saving format of text file (like .txt, .html)
so there's point in that i think
also it has been implemented in abiword, gnumeric, gedit, ...
