doubt on textview

hi there,
  as iw as telling u earlie i  am making use of a gtktextview to display
the hexdump of the file..is it possible to limit the width of the displayed
line through program...it's difficult to manually add the code for adding
the \n character aftet say 45 characters...since i have to read the data
from that again parsing it is even difficult...is it possible to limit that
so that i don have to use \n in my code
