Hmm, sorry.  Ignore my comments on set_uposition, then.  It's deprecated
in GTK 2.  As for raising, I *think* the following will work:

gdk_window_raise(
   gtk_widget_get_parent_window(GTK_WIDGET(s_obj->perl_buf_window)) );
