How to append text in output(to create like chatroom)?

In GTK , How to append text in output? I just only saw the method that can 
append input text,but it seems that it hasn't the method that can append 
output text, I just want to show the output from text entry(I had created 
text entry input box already and want to send output from this text input to 
show on the same window,I used Pane from the example of GTK tutoring to 
create the input and output in the same window) continueing(like chat 
room,that it can show text output continuing)
