It's a bug for the maemo version reported in GNOME bugzilla, take a look:

It really makes sense to type directly into the cells now that we have
the N810 with a real keyboard. But in the case of 770 and N800, where
the virtual keyboard will take a big portion of the screen, the
visible area will be highly compromised as the keyboard will be almost
100% of the time visible.
I'll try to find a way to check in the program if we are running on
N800 or N810 hardware and so it can it behave properly on both cases.
