undefined symbol: g_quark_from_static_string

Hi there,

I've got Red Hat 5.0 and just recently downloaded all the dependencies and
RPMS i thought i needed for gnome but now when I run I get:

[root@benway gnome]# panel
panel: error in loading shared libraries
/usr/lib/libgtk-1.1.so.1: undefined symbol: g_quark_from_static_string
[root@benway gnome]# gmc
gmc: error in loading shared libraries
/usr/lib/libgtk-1.1.so.1: undefined symbol: g_quark_from_static_string


Obviously something is not right.  what can I do to fix this and join the
elite?
