[Gimp-user] Cannot paint on transparent layer?

I have the same problem.
I have the "keep transparency" checked,  and I just cannot figure out why I
can't seem to keep my painting on the layer. There are only two layers so there
I am not having a problem keeping up with which layer to stay on! haha. I am
getting frustrated through.
