[gdm-list] gdm and /var/state/gdm

Hi, I compilled gdm 2.24.1 on slackware and I would like to know why
it asks me that /var/state/gdm does not exist. Also is this the right
place where gdm should create its .ICEauthoriy file, and other stuff ?

I have the following files in this dir if I create it:

root rc-samsung:/var/state/gdm# ls -a
./   .ICEauthority  .esd_auth  .gconf.xml.defaults/   .gconfd/  .gnome2_private/
../  .dbus/         .gconf/    .gconf.xml.mandatory/  .gnome2/  .gstreamer-0.10/
root rc-samsung:/var/state/gdm#
